
The Mountain Home City Council will consider a resolution supporting the renovation of Promenade Apartments in the city, along with three requests from the Water Department at its regular monthly meeting Thursday evening at 6 in the council chambers of the Mountain Home Municipal Building.The meeting will be open to the public, however social distancing will limit the amount of space available. The city encourages citizens to view the council meeting on XL7-TV’s Facebook page, where the council will also monitor comments from the public.The city says its goal is to follow the practices recommended from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, while also adhering to Arkansas state law during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Promenade Apartments, located at 550 East Fourth Street, is applying for a $400,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas for a renovation. The city seeks to express its support for the senior-centric complex in an effort to maintain affordable housing in Mountain Home.
Also under consideration is a line item transfer for $6,300 to purchase a backhoe for use in the Water Department’s manhole rehabilitation equipment. The Water Department will also ask the council to approve moving into an agreement with Garver & Garver LLC to add a new water intake on Lake Norfork and water transmission from the intake to the existing water treatment plant.
The Water Department is also requesting permission to scrap two old pumps and two control panels from the old 1970s Carlisle Highlands lift station, which as been decommissioned and replaced by a new station.
