Thursday results include Cotter’s baseball team shutting out Alpena

The Cotter High School baseball team had a dominating day Thursday at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Warriors shut out Alpena 19-0.

Ozark Mountain had a rough outing on the road. The Bears fell to Bergman by a final of 14-2.

Viola was able to grab another conference road victory. The Longhorns defeated Izard County 13-4.

Salem suffered a conference loss on the road. The Greyhounds fell to Melbourne by a score of 11-6.

Mammoth Spring picked up an easy win at Strawberry. The Bears blanked Hillcrest 11-0.

Valley Springs ended up with a tough road trip. The Tigers lost to Clinton 15-0.

Viola’s softball team did not have as good of a day as their baseball counterparts as they fell to Izard County 7-0. Emilee Engles was credited with the win in the circle. The Lady Cougars improve to 12-6 on the season and 9-4 in the 1A-2.

Salem came up just short in their trip to Melbourne. The Lady Greyhounds were edged out by the Lady Bearkatz 4-3.

Calico Rock won a doubleheader over Rural Special. The Lady Pirates shut out the Lady Rebels 4-0 in the opener, and Calico Rock later squeaked by Rural Special 5-4 in the nightcap.

Mammoth Spring was able to win the 1A-3 conference championship by sweeping a doubleheader over Marked Tree. The Lady Bears blanked the Lady Indians 15-0 in both games. Mammoth Spring is now 16-3 overall, and they finish league play at 8-0.

Mountain View had a rough day in front of the home crowd. The Lady Yellowjackets fell to Batesville 22-3.

Valley Springs was one run shy of forcing an extra inning. The Lady Tigers lost to Harrison 1-0.
