A 62-year-old rural Mountain Home man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

In early October 2019, a search warrant was served at the home of Howard Andrew Johnson along County Road 1008.

The warrant was sought based on an investigation in which alleged multiple controlled buys of methamphetamine had been made from the residence.

During the search, officers encountered Johnson, along with Gerald Morris, Kaitlyn Johnson, and Dawn Thompson

Officers reported finding almost 190 grams of methamphetamine on the premises, along with marijuana, Fentynal, several dosage units of LSD and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

As his plea was being taken, Johnson was asked if it was his intention to sell the drugs found at his residence and he quickly answered it was.

The search also turned up a loaded handgun.

He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, Fentanyl, LSD and drug paraphernalia.

Johnson also faced charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a Class Y Felony carrying a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Through the years, Johnson has had a number of drug-related criminal charges filed against him. He was first booked into the Baxter County jail more than 20 years ago.
