A woman accused of selling her mobile home to two different individuals was later allegedly caught with a firearm and Xanax,  according to an arrest affidavit released by the Mountain Home Police Department.

On Thursday, May 6, 35-year-old Mariah G. Carlile was charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class D felony; theft of property, a Class C felony; second-degree forgery, a Class C felony; and possession of a controlled Schedule IV substance, a Class A misdemeanor.

The Mountain Home Police Department visited a local mobile home park on May 3 for a theft report. It was reported that Carlile had sold her mobile home to a female on April 14 for $8,000. When the new owner arrived to take possession of the trailer, a male subject stated that he had purchased the trailer from Carlile for $6,000 on April 28. Both parties provided police with bills of sale for the trailer’s purchase.

Three days later, police spotted Carlile and a male passenger in her car as she prepared to leave a local hotel. The passenger gave officers permission to search his backpack, which was sitting in the front seat. During that search, drug paraphernalia was reportedly located and police made a more extensive search of the vehicle.

A semi-automatic handgun was found inside another backpack, which reportedly held paperwork with Carlile’s name on it. Officers asked Carlile, a convicted felon who is not allowed to have firearms, about the handgun and she reportedly told authorities she was holding the weapon for someone. A search of Carlile’s purse allegedly turned up one-and-a-half Xanax bars.

Carlile transported to the Baxter County Jail, where she was released on a $15,000 bond about an hour after being booked into the jail, online court records indicate.
