The campground at the Cranfield Recreational Area will reopen Wednesday, the Army Corps of Engineers says. The campground was closed Friday due to rising water levels from Norfork Lake.
Dylan Edwards, the superintendent of the Army Corps of Engineers’ Mountain Home office, says that after studying the current lake levels and looking at the forecast, Corps officials have given their blessing to the campground reopening.
“That’s not to say that more rain won’t close it back down,” Edwards says.
The seven-day forecast for the Mountain Home area calls for 68 percent rain on Wednesday, but then relatively dry conditions after that.
Cranfield was the only Corps campground that was fully closed due to the elevated lake level. Several campgrounds in the area do have some sections underwater, Edwards says.
