
It’s an unusually busy Sunday with high school basketball on the local schedule. Regional tournaments are set to continue throughout Arkansas.
Four local teams will play their openers in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Eureka Springs. On the girls’ side, Cotter and Mountainburg tip off at 1, and Yellville-Summit meets Acorn at 4. On the boys’ bracket, Flippin faces Acorn at 2:30, and Cotter takes on Mountainburg at 5:30.
Four area teams will be at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn for the first round of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament. Rural Special’s girls play the host Lady Screamin’ Eagles at 1. In the boys’ games, Calico Rock will be paired with Ridgefield Christian at 2:30, and Izard County goes up against Mammoth Spring at 5:30.
Four area teams will wrap up the opening round of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at County Line High School in Branch. In girls’ action, Western Grove and St. Paul get started at 1, and Jasper meets Mulberry at 4. On the boys’ side, Jasper faces Ozark Catholic at 2:30, and Lead Hill takes on the New School at 5:30.
Two area teams will play their openers in the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at White County Central High School in Providence. The Salem girls play Hector at 1, and Marshall’s boys will be matched up with Sloan-Hendrix at 5:30.
The Mountain View girls will be at Rose Bud for their first game in the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament. The Lady Yellowjackets meet Corning at 1.
Two area girls’ teams will be in Booneville for the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament. Valley Springs faces the host Lady Bearcats at 1, and Bergman takes on Danville at 4.
Both of Harrison’s teams will compete in the semifinals of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Farmington. The Lady Goblins play Prairie Grove at 1, and the Harrison boys will be paired with the host Cardinals at 5:30.
