While people were inside a local theater watching a movie, two Mountain Home residents are accused of going into multiple vehicles on the parking lot and stealing various items.
One of the people involved, 26-year-old Andrea Stacy, entered a guilty plea to the charges against her and was put on probation for six years during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
The initial charges against 34-four-year-old Dale Malcevicz and Stacy included simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, breaking or entering, theft by receiving and fraudulent use of a credit or debit card.
Some of the charges are filed against both and others are filed against only one of the suspects.
There are a total of 37 counts in the two criminal cases opened on the couple.
Mountain Home police received reports of vehicles being entered while on the theaters parking lot on Mar. 8-9-10.
Items reported to have been taken during the three day period included a handgun, cellphones, cameras, watches, laptop computers, wallets, purses, credit/debit cards and cash.
Deputy Prosecutor Kerry Chism told the court Thursday that the stolen items had been returned to the owners, except for about $150 in cash that was taken.
Victim restitution in that amount was made part of the sentencing.
Police developed Malcevicz and Stacy as suspects after they had allegedly used one of the stolen debit cards at a local convenience store.
The couple was seen leaving a fast-food restaurant on Mar. 10. Police were able to make a traffic stop and reported finding the items stolen that night in plain view in the vehicle.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Stacy was reported to have what appeared to be methamphetamine and a glass-smoking pipe on her person.
A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and police found the stolen handgun, along with a secret compartment in the drivers seat where three bags of suspected methamphetamine were located along with glass-smoking pipes and digital scales.
(Dale Malcevicz)
Malcevicz, who is represented by Yellville attorney Sam Pasthing, has pled not guilty to the charges. He is free on $25,000 bond.
A jury trial for Malcevicz is now scheduled for late October.
