Students studying transportation and logistics at the University of Arkansas’ Sam M. Walton College of Business will now do so at the J.B. Hunt Transport Department of Supply Chain Management, the university and the company said Thursday.

Representatives of both groups met at J.B. Hunt’s Lowell campus Thursday to mark the name change. The UA’s Board of Trustees voted to approve the change in late May.

“Together, we are preparing future leaders who will grow with the industry to meet evolving supply chain challenges,” Shelley Simpson, president of J.B. Hunt, said in a statement.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. also donated $1.5 million to the renamed department. The transportation and logistics company has given $7 million to the university to support supply chain study, according to a Thursday news release.
