
The Marion County Fair and Livestock Show begins Saturday and continues through next Saturday, Aug. 27. The fairgrounds are located at 513 East Seawell Avenue in Summit.
Fair Manager Sherry McFarland says the festivities will open Saturday morning with the Marion County Fair Parade.

The fairgrounds’ activities begin Tuesday with exhibits being entered in the creative arts, horticulture and field crops divisions. Judging will be Wednesday morning at 8:30.
Also on Wednesday, livestock being entered must be checked in and in place by 8 in the evening. The poultry testing will be from 5 to 8, and animals will be weighed in a 7.
McFarland says the busiest day of the fair will be Thursday, which will be School Day.

Thursday’s activities also include the livestock skills-a-thon at 10 in the morning and the first of three evening live music sessions from 7 to 9 featuring the band 7 South.
Friday will feature judging on poultry and rabbits and shows for dairy cows, goats and beef. The live music from 7 to 9 will be an open jam session, and there will be a truck pull Friday evening at 7.
Next Saturday will be the last day of the fair. The day will begin with calf dressing in the arena. The pig wrestling event begins at noon, and the pizza and pie eating contests will be two hours later. The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction and Makin’ Bacon will sponsor a buyers dinner at 4, and the auction will be at 5. The fair will come to an end with Music on the Square from 7 to 9 in downtown Yellville.
