Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday basketball schedule as three of Mountain Home’s junior high teams return to the home floor for an outing with West Memphis West. The eighth grade boys’ game tips off at 5 followed by both freshman contests.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Cotter hosts Viola, Salem travels to Mountain View, and Melbourne entertains Hoxie.
The Norfork High School girls will be across the state line for their opener in the Nixa Invitational Tournament. The Lady Panthers meet the host Lady Eagles at 7:30.
Bakersfield will compete in the championship game of the Houston Community Foundation Boys’ Basketball Tournament. The top-seeded Lions face Couch at 8.
Mammoth Spring’s girls will play for the title of the Thayer Winter Classic. The top-seeded Lady Bears take on the host Lady Bobcats at 8.
In other high school basketball, the Gainesville girls is home against Mansfield, and Dora’s girls make the trip to Mountain Grove.
