4 area teens injured in 1-vehicle accident

Four area teenagers were injured in a one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning in Howell County. Eighteen-year-old Emily Mongillo of West Plains was transported by air ambulance to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield with serious injuries, 18-year-old Isiah Puckett of West Plains was sent by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains with moderate injuries, and 18-year-old Stephin Curtis of Caulfield and an unidentified 17-year-old female juvenile of West Plains were also transported to Ozarks Healthcare with minor injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mongillo was the driver of a vehicle traveling on Missouri Highway 142, and the others were her passengers. They were nearly four miles east of Moody when Mongillo reportedly lost control of her vehicle and overcorrected. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment.

Mongillo was reportedly not wearing a seat belt. Her vehicle was totaled in the 3:20 a.m. accident.
