Adams: We have pretty well finished the sidewalks, the curb and gutter, and all that type work. Some landscaping has been done down through already a lot of sod. Uh, I was down there last Friday, uh, we were relaying millings that have been pulled up off other projects somewhere. We put that back in as our base.
Adams: We’ve got a portion of First Street that is not getting rebuilt, but it’s gonna get a new layer of asphalt, so we’re gonna mill that down a couple inches. And then when we reasphalted, it’ll go from College all the way to Cardinal. I would think we’ll be done with that and ready to probably see some fresh asphalt on that early October.
Adams: It’s getting real close for us being done with our part. We’ll advertise bids on that job in the same, almost, on Conway Street. Over in North Hills. We’re getting really close there. We’ve already tore out a lot of the street and started putting new base back in. We’ll probably bid those two jobs somewhere by the first of the month, we hope.
Loftis: When you’re finished with First Street and Conway Street, where do you move next?
Adams: Well, we’ll move, um, two places. We’ll have crews out there working on the finishing up the walking trail from ASU to McCabe. One of those crews will be working on the new aquatic center community center site work. We’re doing a lot of our dirt out there in the side ourself, so we’ll have a crew dedicated full time to that and then our next street job you’re really gonna see much work on is over on North Church and Morse.
Adams: They’re behind auto zone in that area. We’re finishing up some water and sewer work over there right now and hopefully by the time we get everything done in the other two locations, we’re gonna be ready to go to somewhere in the North Street area there. That First Street’s been a real challenge just to traffic down through there.
Loftis: You gotta be real safe. You gotta take care of those men that are out there working.
Adams: You do.
Loftis: Especially when school started.
Adams: And they’ve been out there in some really, really bad conditions with that heat and working and uh, but they’re getting real close to having that wrapped up and hopefully by the time we get around to what’s coming up in October, a little thing called Halloween.
Loftis: A little bit.
Adams: Yeah, streets and sidewalks down there before Halloween we hope.
