Flippin boys, Valley Springs girls win 3A-1 Conference Golf Tournament

Three area schools sent their golf teams to Diamond Hills Country Club in Diamond City on Monday to compete in the 3A-1 Conference Tournament.

Flippin came away with the boys’ title with a team total of 263. Bergman finished second at 286, and Valley Springs is fourth at 314. Flippin’s Tucker Thompson was the medalist with an 83 as he ended up two strokes ahead of Bergman’s Kaden Ponder and Valley Springs’ Levi Carey. Carey will join Flippin and Bergman in the Class 3A State Tournament.

Valley Springs won the girls’ championship with a team total of 322. Flippin also secured a state tournament bid as they took second place at 384, and Bergman finished fifth at 524. The medalist honor went to Stevie Jennings of Valley Springs with a 98, and teammate Landrey King was the runner-up at two strokes back. Agata Trubkova was Flippin’s top golfer with a 116, and Amelia Halsted led Bergman with a 154.
