
The Missouri Department of Conservation has released data from the chronic wasting disease (CWD) portion of firearms deer season, one area county was the top harvester. Howell County ended up with 480 deer during the period. According to the report, Franklin County was second at 462, and Jefferson County was third at 429.
Other portions of the area ended up with deer harvested during the CWD period. The report shows 193 in Ozark County and 225 in Taney County.
Deer hunters in Missouri harvested a total of 11,726 deer Nov. 22-26. Of the total, 4,717 were antlered bucks, 1,076 were button bucks, and 5,933 were does.
The current numbers are not official. According to the conservation department, official numbers will be released after all portions are finished and that data verified.
