
High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule as Mountain Home will have one of its longest trips of the regular season. The Bombers and Lady Bombers are set for another outing with Greenwood.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently ranked fourth in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media and tied for second in the 5A-West with Russellville. The Lady Bombers are 20-7 on the season and 9-2 in the league after suffering a four-point defeat to the Lady Cyclones on Tuesday. Greenwood is the top-ranked team in Class 5A and fifth overall, and they lead Mountain Home and Russellville in the conference by a game. The Lady Bulldogs are 21-4 and 10-1 following a 60-point win over Siloam Springs. The Lady Bombers defeated Greenwood 55-46 on Jan. 19.
The Mountain boys are in fourth place in the 5A-West at 18-9 overall and 6-5 in the league. The Bombers are coming off a 12-point defeat at the hands of Russellville. Greenwood is 13-14 and 3-8 after a six-point loss to Siloam Springs. Mountain Home routed the Bulldogs 61-31 nearly a month ago.
The junior varsity games tip off at 4:45 at H.B. Stewart Arena. The varsity contests begin around 6 and will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.
Also in the 5A-West, Harrison hosts Van Buren, Greenbrier travels to Alma, and Russellville entertains Siloam Springs.
Elsewhere, the semifinals of the 2A-1 District Tournament will be held at Cotter. On the girls’ side, the host Lady Warriors and Greenland tip off at 4, and Yellville-Summit faces Ozark Mountain at 7. On the boys’ bracket, Yellville-Summit takes on Haas Hall-Bentonville at 5:30, and Cotter plays Greenland at 8:30.
Salem will be the site for the semifinals of the 3A-2 District Tournament. In the girls’ games, the host Lady Greyhounds and Cave City get underway at 4, and Melbourne will be paired with Mountain View at 7. In boys’ action, Mountain View faces Walnut Ridge at 5:30, and Melbourne takes on Tuckerman at 8:30.
Both of Mammoth Spring’s teams will play Marked Tree in the championship games of the 1A-3 District Tournament at Crowley’s Ridge Academy in Paragould. The girls’ game tips off at 6 followed by the boys’ contest.
Bergman will be represented in both title games of the 3A-1 District Tournament at Valley Springs. The Lady Panthers will be matched up with the host Lady Tigers at 6, and the Bergman boys face Elkins at 7:30.
