A pair of area teenage females were injured late Friday afternoon in a UTV accident in Howell County. A 13-year-old Bakersfield resident sustained moderate injuries, and a 14-year-old West Plains resident suffered serious injuries. Both were transported by a private vehicle to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Bakersfield teen was the driving the UTV on County Road 9460, and the West Plains teen was her passenger. They were nearly five miles west of Koshkonong when the 13-year-old swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway and lost control, and the UTV overturned.
Damage to the UTV was not listed from the 4:30 p.m. accident.
