Cotter School Board deals with multiple personnel matters during July session

The Cotter School Board’s July session lasted just over two hours and included an executive session to unanimously approve of two hires, a resignation and a few change in positions.

Cotter High School basketball coaches Jared Wilhite and Jackson Rains will also serve as co-athletic directors. Rory Davis stepped down from the AD position three months after being hired, but he will remain with the district as the new head baseball coach. In addition, Luke Morris was selected as the Virtual Arkansas facilitator and LeAudra Vaughn-Mooney as a paraprofessional, and the board accepted the resignation of fourth grade teacher Taylor Yowell.

The board also approved of the bids sought by the district’s food service department. Tankersley Foodservice and Springfield Grocer had the winning bids for food items and paper products, and Tankersley will also supply bread products, soap and chemicals. Hiland Dairy will provide milk and juice to the district.

The Cotter School Board also unanimously agreed to a few renewals. The Smart Data Contract will be renewed for the coming school year at $3,985. Through Arkansas Public School Insurance Trust, the board renewed the vehicle insurance at $12,926 and the property insurance at $94,064.

In addition, the board approved of updates and revisions to district policies, changes to the high school handbook, the improvement plans and the teacher recruitment and retention plan.

The final items approved by the board were the transfers of three students into the Cotter School District. Two will come in from Mountain Home, and the other will transfer from Flippin.
