The investigation continues into an altercation in Gamaliel Wednesday morning among four individuals that led to one of the men coming into Sandra D’s Grocery and Fuel Stop seeking help.
Baxter County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Terry Johnson says upon investigation the man who sought help suffered only superficial wounds that did not require him to be transported for medical attention.
He says the dispute involved four individuals, including two brothers and their nephew. The incident occurred at the home of the brothers’ parents, next door to the Gamaliel Post Office.
While it was initially believed the individual seeking help had been injured with a box cutter, Lieutenant Johnson says no weapon was found at the scene of the dispute. Other relatives advised no weapon was involved.
He says the investigation reveals the dispute apparently originated over jewelry.
Details of the investigation have been referred to the prosecutor to determine if further law enforcement action is needed.
