A daily rainfall record in Mountain Home was broken as a two-day rain event brought significant precipitation to the area.
At KTLO, Classic Hits, and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mountain Home, 1.51 inches of rain fell between 7 Thursday morning and early Friday morning. The total surpassed the previous daily record of 1.35 inches set fifty years ago in 1975.
The system delivered a total of 2.96 inches over a two-day period, accounting for a large portion of the months total precipitation. With the recent rainfall, Mountain Home has recorded 4.34 inches of precipitation for the month.
The NWS is urging continued caution early Friday morning, as heavy rainfall has left low-lying areas overly saturated and could lead to rising river levels. Clear conditions are forecasted through the weekend with temperatures reaching near seventy degrees for Sunday.
