
After a few postponements, the 1A-2 District Tournament was able to hold its semifinal round Saturday at Rural Special High School in Fox.
Norfork’s girls were eliminated from the tournament in the first game of the afternoon. The Lady Panthers fell to Greers Ferry West Side 60-27.
Rural Special will be the Lady Eagles’ opponent in Monday’s championship game. Viola lost to the host Lady Rebels 61-30.
The Calico Rock boys were able to advance to the title game on Monday. The Pirates picked up a 60-52 win over Timbo.
Calico Rock’s last opponent in the tournament will be another group of Pirates from Concord. Top-seeded Rural Special was upset by Concord 60-41.
Izard County ended up splitting the championship games of the 2A-2 District Tournament at Tuckerman. The Lady Cougars breezed past the host Lady Bulldogs 59-35. Izard County was not as fortunate in the boys’ contest as they fell to Cedar Ridge 68-49.
The championship games of the 3A-2 District Tournament were held at Melbourne, and the boys’ contest was decided on a buzzer beater. The host Bearkatz were able to keep the boys’ trophy as a three-pointer was banked in to give them the 53-52 win over Bergman. The girls’ title went to Mountain View after they topped Bergman 63-53.
The semifinals of the 1A-1 District Tournament were held at Kingston.
The Lead Hill boys advanced to Monday’s title game with a 60-51 victory over the host Yellowjackets. Noah Royce was the Tigers’ top scorer with 23 points, Dawson Lively finished with 11, and Coda Lemon ended up with 10.
Lead Hill’s last opponent in the tournament will be Jasper. The Pirates beat Founders Classical Academy 63-52.
Lead Hill did not fare as well on the girls’ side. The Lady Tigers suffered an 81-24 defeat at the hands of Jasper.
Omaha will be the Lady Pirates’ matchup on Monday. The Lady Eagles got past Kingston 65-59.
