Yellville-Summit girls finish 2nd, boys end up 11th in Big O Tire Greenbrier Panther Relays

The Yellville-Summit High School competed in the Big O Tire Greenbrier Panther Relays on Thursday.

Yellville-Summit finished second on the girls’ side with the victory going to another group of Lady Panthers from Heber Springs. Individually for Yellville-Summit, Hannah Hayward prequalified for the state meet as she won the triple jump in 34 feet, 8 inches, and she also finished fourth in the long jump. Fay Chism won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles and was second in the pole vault and fourth in the high jump; Bailey Ervin won the long jump and ended up third in the 100-meter dash and the triple jump, fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 400-meter dash; and Rorie Cobb took fourth place in the discus. In addition, the team of Ervin, Chism, Kamiah Gerth and Hayward finished second in the 4×400-meter relay.

Yellville-Summit’s boys were 11th in the team standings as the win to Harrison. The Panthers’ top individual performance came from Eden Hardy as he ended up fifth in the pole vault.
