
Mountain Home was among the area schools competing in the Heber Springs Seventh Grade Relays on Monday. Both Seventh Grade Bombers teams came away with third place finishes.
On the girls’ side, Calico Rock was 10th, and Izard County ended up 14th. The team victory went to Vilonia.
Individually for Mountain Home, Samira Gassama won the 800-meter run, Ella Morris took second place in the 300-meter hurdles, Sonya Kruegar finished second in the high jump, Blair Beyen was third in the 1600-meter run, and Grace Rosenlof ended up third in the long jump. The team of Beyen, Lydia Lewis, Farrah Coleman and Gassama took third place in the 4×800-meter relay; and Beyen, Morris, Rosenlof and Gassama finished third in the 4×400-meter relay.
Calico Rock had two top-three finishes in the girls’ results. Rosalynne Cantrell was third in the high jump, and Scarlett Stowers ended up third in the discus throw.
In the boys’ team standings, Greenbrier took the win. Izard County finished 15th.
For the Seventh Grade Bomber boys, Hudson Speer won the long jump, Uriah Sabo won the pole vault, and Bates King was third in the 100-meter dash. The team of Bryant Edens, Asa Smeltzer, Zakk Leach and King ended up second in the 4×400-meter relay; and Speer, Smeltzer, Edens and King took second place in the 4×100-meter relay.
