
The Mountain Home High School baseball team remains unbeaten as they topped Siloam Springs for the second straight day. The Bombers went on the road Tuesday and beat the Panthers 11-4.
Koen Bickford picked up the win on the mound with 3 2/3 innings, five strikeouts and three hits. Brantlee Phillips pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, struck out three batters and gave up three hits.
Finley Chafin went 2-for-3 at the plate, drew a pair of bases on balls and was hit by a pitch. Jax Wescoat was 2-for-4, and Carter Adkins went 1-for-5.
Mountain Home improves to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in the 5A-West. The Bombers will step out of conference play Friday when they travel to Little Rock to meet Joe T. Robinson.
Cotter’s baseball team was able to pick up a win on its home field. The Warriors defeated Lead Hill 16-6.
Flippin stepped outside of conference play for another road victory. In a battle between Bobcats, Flippin topped Berryville 9-5.
Salem had a dominating performance as they went down toward Greers Ferry Lake. The Greyhounds routed Heber Springs 15-3.
Harrison picked up an easy conference victory on its home turf. The Goblins breezed past Farmington 13-3.
Jasper picked up its second win of the season. The Pirates destroyed Alpena by a final of 23-8.
Like their baseball counterparts, the Mountain Home softball team also doesn’t have loss. The Lady Bombers invoked the mercy rule in the fifth inning as they pounded Siloam Springs 13-2.
Emma King was credited with the victory as she went the distance in the circle. Daelyn Harper was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Leah Bockstahler went 2-for-4 and drove in a run, Maddie Simmons was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, Libby Dewey also went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs, and Chloe Bohannon was 1-for-3.
Mountain Home improves to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the 5A-West.
Mountain Home’s junior varsity squad followed by edging out Siloam Springs 3-2. The J.V. Lady Bombers’ record is now 3-2.
The Cotter softball team had a tough road trip to Brockwell. The Lady Warriors were doubled up by Izard County 6-3.
Megan McBride was the winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts, and she provided plenty of offense for the Lady Cougars with two base hits. Reese Johnson led Izard County by going 2-for-4 and driving in two runs, and Layla Penland added two hits. The Lady Cougars drew six walks on the day, including two each from Makensie Yancey and Kallie Skidmore.
Izard County improves to 3-2 on the season.
Yellville-Summit was able to notch another win in front of the home crowd. The Lady Panthers shut out Ozark Mountain 16-0.
Viola was able to come away with a victory in a high-scoring game. The Lady Longhorns came back from being down 7-2 to defeat Shirley 19-11.
Avery Rogers was the winning pitcher with a complete game, six strikeouts and one earned run, and she also had a big day at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. Ryleigh Golden led the way with three hits and five RBIs; Shayden Waltrip added three hits; and Cheyenne Newberry, Audrey Comstock, Abby Hutson and Maggie Perryman each provided multiple hits.
Viola was able to steal 12 bases, and its defense turned two double plays.
Calico Rock had a rough day on its home softball diamond. The Lady Pirates ended up falling to Cave City 11-5.
Salem was able to pick up a conference victory on the road. The Lady Greyhounds beat Melbourne by a score of 6-1.
Mountain View came up just short on its home field. The Lady Yellowjackets were edged out by Cedar Ridge 8-7.
Valley Springs was swept in a doubleheader at Clinton. The Lady Tigers lost to the Lady Yellowjackets by scores of 16-1 and 18-0.
Harrison suffered a 5A-West defeat on the road. The Lady Goblins fell to Farmington by a 20-1 decision.
