A man from Arkansas is facing up to life in prison after being convicted of bank robbery in a federal jury trial.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma, 58-year-old Brian Keith Mays of Arkansas was found guilty of bank robbery and brandishing a firearm following a three-day trial that concluded on March 13.

Prosecutors presented evidence showing that on July 5, 2024, Mays brandished a pistol at the FNB Community Bank in Harrah, Oklahoma, and demanded money. He collected $12,123 from the bank’s tellers.

Officials said that an eyewitness and security footage helped the FBI track down Mays using his car’s tag number. Cell phone data also placed Mays near the bank at the time of the robbery.

Further investigation revealed additional security footage showing Mays at a nearby Walmart shortly after the robbery, where he transferred $3,000 to a person in Arkansas, using a large amount of cash from his pocket to complete the transaction.

Mays’s sentencing is scheduled for a later date, with the possibility of life in prison and a $500,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the FBI Oklahoma City and Fort Smith Field Offices, the Harrah Police Department, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oklahoma City Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel Gridley and Drew E. Davis.
