The Mountain Home City Council approved the purchase of a new dump truck for the city street department and a rezoning request during a quick 15 minute session Thursday evening.

The council waived competitive bidding to purchase the dump truck from Buckner’s Truck & Equipment in Lowell at a price of $116,583. The truck is used, but only has 2,000 miles on it.

The council also approved a rezoning request for property on U.S. Highway 62/412 West from residential R-1 to commercial C-2. The seller requested the rezoning because they have a buyer who is putting in a fun center with multiple trampolines according to attorney Ted Sanders who presented the rezoning request to the council. The property is located between Kilgore Vision Center and Judicious Spirits.

The council also approved several ordinances to clean up the city code. They removed outdated sections of the city code that pertained to bid waivers, a defunct pension plan and the youth center.
