Friday results include MHHS baseball team beating Melbourne, softball team falling to Russellville

The Mountain Home High School baseball team was able to pick up a win on Friday as they stepped out of conference play. The Bombers defeated Melbourne by a final of 8-2. Mountain Home improves to 10-9 on the season.

In other baseball, Cotter lost both games of a doubleheader against Life Way Christian 8-6, and Yellville-Summit squeaked by Salem 5-4.

Mountain Home came up just short on the softball diamond as they were edged out by Russellville 5-4. Emma King pitched three innings for the Lady Bombers, and Chloe Bohannon came on for the remaining four and struck out four batters. Maddie Simmons went 2-for-3 at the plate with a solo home run, King was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Kailyn Pope went 1-for-3, and Libby Dewey was 1-for-4 with an RBI. The Lady Bombers fall to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in the 5A-West.
The junior varsity game ended in a 6-6 tie between Mountain Home and Russellville. The J.V. Lady Bombers are now 4-5-1.

In other softball, Viola lost to Greers Ferry West Side 12-2, and Harrison was shut out by Greenwood 15-0.
