Arkansas State Police on Tuesday executed two residential search warrants in connection with a multi-state investigation into a series of commercial burglaries spanning more than a decade.

Special agents with the Criminal Investigation Division, working with the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri, conducted the searches at homes in Jacksonville and Sherwood.

40-year-old Curtis Lee Barton of Jacksonville, was identified as a suspect in more than 30 commercial burglaries across northern Missouri and southern Iowa, according to Arkansas State Police.

Investigators made contact with Barton at his Jacksonville residence, where they recovered evidence allegedly linked to the crimes. He was served with an arrest warrant from Missouri’s Lewis County, charging him with burglary, theft and property damage, among other offenses.

Barton, who is on parole in Missouri for commercial burglary, was transported by Arkansas State Police to the Pulaski County Detention Center.
