Thursday results include MHHS softball team losing at Greene County Tech

The Mountain Home High School softball team had a rough trip to Paragould on Thursday as they suffered a 6-1 defeat to Greene County Tech. Chloe Bohannon was the losing pitcher as she went five innings, and Emma King pitched in the sixth. Karleigh Drewry and Daelyn Harper both went 1-for-3 at the plate, and Libby Dewey was 1-for-4. The Lady Bombers fall to 11-8 on the season.
Mountain Home also lost the junior varsity contest to Tech 6-1. The J.V. Lady Bombers drop to 4-7-1.

Cotter’s softball team won its semifinal game in the 2A-1 District Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Lady Warriors defeated Ozark Mountain 13-0.

The Salem softball team finished the 3A-2 District Tournament as the runner-up at Cave City. The Lady Greyhounds were edged out by Melbourne 6-5.

Izard County ended up second in the 2A-2 District Softball Tournament at Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden. The Lady Cougars fell to Tuckerman 10-0.

Two area baseball teams won their openers in the 2A-1 District Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex. Cotter routed Alpena 16-1, and Ozark Mountain squeaked by Ozark Catholic 8-7.

The 3A-2 District Baseball Tournament came to an end at Cave City. Flippin made up its semifinal game after Wednesday’s rainout and lost to the host Cavemen 8-4. Melbourne later blanked Cave City 15-0 in the championship game.

Viola ended up as the runner-up of the 1A-2 District Baseball Tournament. The Longhorns began the day with a 15-5 victory over Calico Rock, but they later lost the title game to Greers Ferry West Side 11-1.

Izard County’s baseball team came up short in its quest for the championship of the 2A-2 District Tournament. The Cougars fell to Cedar Ridge 12-9 at Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden.

Elsewhere, Gainesville’s baseball team suffered a defeat at home. The Bulldogs lost to Sparta 3-0.
