Boone County residents will have an opportunity this Saturday to clear out some unwanted items. The Boone County Spring Clean-up will take place from 8 to 3 at Methvin Sanitation on Industrial Park Road in Harrison.
Accepted items include electronics such as modems, laptops, microwaves and cellphones, furniture, mattresses and carpets, washers, dryers, wood stoves, scrap metal and other pieces of junk iron, and up to 10 tires off the rims. Tractor and industrial type tires will not be taken. TVs and computer monitors will be accepted for a $5 fee.
Examples of waste which will not be accepted are refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers, hazardous household, materials such as batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, chemicals and paint, yard waste, construction debris and ordinary trash.
The service is free and is staffed by the Boone County Road Department. All persons must remain in their vehicle during the process.
