A Mountain Home man facing charges in three criminal cases appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday (May 19).
Forty-eight-year-old Chadwick Dale Whitlow pled guilty to his charges and was sentenced to 10 years-probation and ordered to enter and complete the 14th Judicial Districts Drug Court Program.
Whitlows most recent case was filed in mid-April. He was charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.
The arrest came after a white 2011 Ford-150 pickup truck Whitlow was driving was stopped for displaying a license plate that showed it should have been displayed on a Ford Taurus sedan.
During the stop, a glass smoking pipe similar to those used to ingest methamphetamine was found in a Crown Royal bag.
Whitlow was charged in late March last year with bringing drugs into the Baxter County jail.
An inmate being booked into the jail told staff that there was a suspicious looking package that had been put between the body scanner and a moveable platform.
Tape from surveillance cameras was reviewed and it showed that inmate Whitlow can clearly be seen reaching into his right pants pocket, removing a small bag and throwing it onto the floor between the scanner and platform.
Whitlow was the last inmate to be in the scanner area until the next inmate being booked saw and reported the bag.
The bag was retrieved and the substance inside tested positive for methamphetamine. There was approximately 3.5 grams of the drug in the bag.
In another case opened on Whitlow, he is charged with stealing a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The theft case was filed October 16 last year.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the wife of the victim said her husband had been in the Baxter County Detention Center and that Whitlow had been given permission to ride a Honda motorcycle belonging to the victim, but not the Harley-Davidson.
It was discovered that Whitlow had allegedly wrecked the Harley which had an estimated value of $8,200 and it was being stored at a Little Rock towing company.
A report dated September 25 was filed on the accident by an Arkansas State Trooper. Whitlow was said to have been taken to a Little Rock hospital following the accident.
The owners wife said she had been in touch with Whitlow about getting both the Harley and Honda motorcycles back.
She said he told her at one point, both would be available for pickup shortly, but that did not happen. Then, he said he would return the cycles but failed to produce them as promised.
A Baxter County sheriffs deputy accompanied the wife to Whitlows residence, but only the Honda cycle was there.
The wife was reported to have sent pictures of the damaged cycle to investigations. It was estimated that repairs would cost between $1,000 and $5,000.
Charges filed against Whitlow include bringing contraband into the Baxter County Detention Center, possession of drugs, theft of property and 2nd degree criminal mischief.
