The National Park Service is reminding the public that fireworks are prohibited at Buffalo National River and all other National Park Service lands ahead of the Independence Day holiday.
The ban, which is a long-standing federal regulation, is intended to protect public safety, wildlife, and natural resources. Officials say fireworks can ignite wildfires, disturb wildlife, and create hazards for visitors and park personnel.
Park rangers will be patrolling the area throughout the holiday weekend to enforce the regulation. Violations may result in fines or other enforcement actions, according to the Park Service.
“Buffalo National River is a place of peace and natural wonder,” says Angela Boyers,
Superintendent of Buffalo National River. “We ask everyone to help us preserve that by leaving
fireworks at home.”
