Talk of the Town:North Arkansas Woodcarvers Club

On this episode of Talk of the Town, host Adam Rogers sits down with Rod and Pat Grimes, Sandy Smith, and Dee Robinson from the North Arkansas Woodcarvers Club to talk creativity, craftsmanship, and community. The group shares what’s happening at their current meetings and gives a sneak peek at beginner woodcarving classes starting this January—perfect for anyone curious about picking up a new hands-on hobby.

Founded in 1974 and incorporated as a non-profit in 1992, the North Arkansas Woodcarvers Club has carved out a lasting legacy across the region. Beyond the art itself, the club is deeply rooted in community service, supporting projects such as the Baxter County Library’s summer youth program, regional cultural arts initiatives, and fundraising efforts for local organizations.

Their work can be seen throughout the community, including carving projects for the Mountain Home Christian Clinic and several standout features at Cooper Park—from the large tree mural inside the Youth Center to two totem poles and a carved stump in the park’s lower area. Tune in to hear how this talented group keeps tradition alive while giving back, one carving at a time.
