For five decades, the North Central Arkansas Humane Society has been caring for animals across the Twin Lakes area. On this episode of Talk of the Town, Shelter Manager Carolyn Carter joins host Adam Rogers to reflect on the organization’s beginnings in 1976 as a small foster-based effort and how it has grown into a vital community resource that has helped millions of pets.
Carter also discusses the wide range of services the humane society provides today — from animal sheltering and adoptions to community support programs — and explains how the organization’s thrift store serves as its primary source of funding as well as volunteer opportunities.
The North Central Arkansas Humane Society is located at 2656 Highway 201 North and can be reached by calling 870-425-9221.
