Founded in 2009, the North Central Arkansas Master Naturalists (NCAMN) brings together volunteers from across Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard, Lawrence, Marion, Searcy, and Stone counties to help protect and celebrate the natural beauty of the Ozarks. The group partners with city, state, and national parks; wildlife and water-quality agencies; forest specialists; and private conservation organizations — all united in their mission to preserve and promote Arkansas’ natural resources.
NCAMN volunteers roll up their sleeves for everything from building and maintaining hiking trails to monitoring stream health, cultivating native plant and herb gardens, and leading hands-on nature programs for children and families. They also make time to enjoy the outdoors together through hikes, floats, campouts, and picnics.
In this episode, Chapter President Beth Kennedy and Leader Mary Beth Piorkowski join host Adam Rogers to share what it takes to become a Master Naturalist, what new volunteers can expect, and how to sign up for their upcoming training classes beginning in January.
