Marion County Fair begins Thursday, exhibits accepted Wednesday

     The Marion County Fair in Summit begins Wednesday and continues through Saturday. This year’s fair will feature a livestock show, a rodeo, a truck pool and several other events.

     Wednesday morning, exhibits can be entered in creative arts, horticulture and field crops from 8 to 10. At 10:30, the community building will be closed until judging is complete. Livestock can be entered between 11 and 7. All animals must be in place by 8 P.M.

     Thursday is senior citizens day at the fair. Seniors, 55 and over, can partake in lunch from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. Bingo will follow. At 4, there will be a pizza eating contest, sponsored by Breadeaux Pizza. At 5:30, the livestock show will feature sheep, meat goats and swine. The Morris Rodeo Bull Riding event begins Thursday night at 8. Gate admission is $10. Adults admission is $5. Admission is free for children ages five and under.

     Friday morning at 10, the livestock show featuring poultry and rabbits gets underway. Friday evening at 5:30, the livestock show featuring dairy cattle and beef cattle gets underway. At 7, the truck pull gets underway. Gates open at 4.

     Saturday morning at 9, the livestock show will feature dairy goats. At 10, the calf dressin’ contest gets underway. Saturday afternoon at 1, pig wrestling sponsored by Blacksheep BBQ gets underway. The FFA/4H auction begins at 4:30. Those who entered exhibits in the creative arts and horticulture categories can pick up their pieces at from 5 to 6 in the community building. Livestock will be released at 8.
