Brian Calvert of Mountain Home was sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to a number of charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

The 21-year-old Calvert’s criminal cases involve multiple theft of property, residential burglary, breaking or entering and commercial burglary counts stemming from break-ins at a Mountain Home equipment rental business, a shed on Old Hickory Lane in Mountain Home, a residence on State Highway 201 South and a hunting cabin on Buffalo Road in May.

His latest arrest came on May 17th.

On May 8th, Mountain Home Police received a report of a break-in at Summit Rentals in the city in which property valued at approximately $10,000 was taken. Surveillance cameras picked up three males who were involved in the incident.

Evidence was developed which led to a search of Calvert’s residence where property — including a four-wheeler and a commercial water pump, were found and tied to the rental company break-in. Investigators were able to determine that all of the property taken from the rental company was initally taken to Calvert’s residence but that he had allegedly moved some of the property to another location and possibly traded it for drugs.

Two other people — 21-year-old Derrick Michael Vostatek and 32-year-old Robert Martinell were also arrested in connection with the break-in and robbery at the equipment rental business. They told police that the robbery was planned at a party the trio attended. Martinell pled guilty to his part in the robbery and was given 10 years in prison, with eight to serve and two suspended, during a recent session of circuit court. Vostatek has pled not guilty to his charges and is currently schedule to reappear in circuit court October 20th.

Calvert’s earlier cases stem from a series of break-ins.

On May 15th, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a victim who said her neighbor had come to her house and told her that the door to her shed had been open and that he had closed it for her. The victim reported that a relative had come to her home to mow her lawn and told her that numerous items, including tools, were missing from the shed. The missing items, including a leaf blower and chainsaw, were valued at slighly more than $1,200.

A second report came in on May 15th regarding missing items from a residence on State Highway 201 South. The owner of the house said she had been away for some time and when she returned, noticed that a number of items were missing. The missing items included five small air compressors new in the box, a large screen television set and collectible golf clubs.

On May 16th, a man reported that his hunting cabin on Buffalo Road had been broken into an numerous guns and a game camera had been stolen. Value of the property was placed at slightly more than $3,000.

Calvert was developed as a suspect and a search warrant was executed at a home where he had once lived and many of the stolen items were located during the search. The current resident of the home said Calvert had been seen bringing items to the property, including a leaf blower and chainsaw which had been reported stolen in the shed break-in.

Circuit Judge John Putman also ordered Calvert to pay almost $15,400 in restitution.

Calvert is currently an inmate at the Tucker Unit of the state prison system on an earlier conviction
