A request to have the $15,000 bond of Steven Gunn of Springfield lowered was denied by Judge John Putman during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Gunn’s original $50,000 bond had already been lowered to $15,000 shortly after his arrest in June.

The 37-year-old Gunn has been jailed since June. He was arrested after Baxter County Deputies answered a call from a woman living on County Road 481 reporting that Gunn – who was identified as her cousin — was at her home and refusing to leave.

The victim said she returned to her house before noon on June 28th and found Gunn inside the residence. He reportedly told her that he had wrecked his vehicle the night before somewhere in Missouri and then came to her home. There was no further explanation in the probable cause affidavit as to where the wreck occurred or how Gunn had gotten to the cousin’s residence.

According to the cousin, when Gunn was told that he was not welcome at the residence, he became irate, cursed and threatened her and then chased her outside. The victim said that once outside, Gunn’s erratic behavior continued and that he began to throw rocks at her car breaking both passenger side door windows. The victim estimated that damage to her car and to items inside the house — including dishes and a ceiling fan — was approximately $2,000.

The cousin alleged that Gunn had also assaulted her in January and that her injuries were severe enough to require hospitalization.

Gunn was ordered to re-appear in Circuit Court on October 20th.
