1 dead in Arkansas deputy's pursuit of stolen vehicle

     LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – State police say an 84-year-old woman is dead after a sheriff deputy’s patrol cruiser collided with her vehicle during a pursuit of a stolen car.

     Rector resident Sadine Dixon died in the crash Sunday. Clay County deputy Terry Burdin was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

     Police say Burdin spotted a stolen vehicle near Rector that was being pursued by Kennett, Missouri police into Arkansas. As the pursuit entered the city, the deputy’s car collided with Dixon’s vehicle.

     State police spokesman Bill Sadler said Sunday that the investigation will determine who was at fault.

     The pursuit of the stolen vehicle continued into Paragould and ended after it crashed into a concrete retaining wall. Police said the vehicle had been stolen in Collinsville, Illinois.
