Crews recover man's body from south Columbia lake

Crews in Columbia have recovered a man’s body from a lake.

Columbia Assistant Fire Chief Brad Fraizer told The Columbia Daily Tribune that the man’s body was recovered Saturday evening in Swan Lake.

He said the man apparently jumped into the lake from a restaurant deck and apparently tried to swim about 75 feet to a floating fountain. The victim’s body was found about three hours later.

Fraizer said video from the restaurant showed the man going underwater about halfway to the fountain, and he did not resurface. He said the lake ranged in depth from 6 to 12 feet.

Authorities haven’t provided the man’s identity.
