The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Summit man who was apparently electrocuted Friday night. Sergeant Silas Gibson from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says a call was received shortly after 6 reporting a man was lying in a ditch and appeared to be dead. When investigators came to the scene 36 year old Michael Paul Wood was found unresponsive. He appeared to have been electrocuted by a power line blown down by strong winds in the area at the time. Witnesses to the incident said Wood was walking down the road when the power line blew down and struck him.

Gibson says Entergy crews responded to the scene to secure the area enabling the safe removal of Wood’s body.

A power outage in the area at the time may or may not be related, according to Gibson.
