A Lakeview man currently on probation from Marion County, 32-year-old Duane Mark Dean Jr., was arrested by the Baxter County Sheriff's Department Monday afternoon on several felony charges. According to a report from the Sheriff's office, the arrest comes from an investigation into a burglary of a Lakeview residence on Sunday, December 18th and the attempted use of a stolen department store gift card the same day. This was the second burglary in just a few months. Another had occurred at the same location in late October. $20 went missing along with a .410 shotgun. On the day of the break-in Sunday, the victim reported $105 in cash and a $25 TJ Maxx gift card was missing.
The victim went to the department store Monday, December 19th, to alert store personnel of the stolen gift card. They determined the card had already been used and were able to supply a photo of the suspected thief. The victim and another person were able to identify the man in the photo as the victim's neighbor, Duane Mark Dean Jr.
After an interview with Dean he allegedly admitted to having entered the victim's residence on both occasions and stole the gift card and shotgun. Investigators and Arkansas Department of Community Corrections officers went to Dean's residence and recovered the shotgun. During the search they also found a small amount of suspected marijuana.
Duane Mark Dean Jr. was charged with four felony counts of residential burglary, felony theft of property, felony possession of a firearm by certain persons and several misdemeanors. He was booked into the Baxter County Jail on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court January 26th.
