Arkansas man thought to have faked abduction is arrested

(AP) – An Arkansas man who police believe faked being

abducted to cover up a burglary has been arrested in Texas.

Police in San Angelo, Texas, say 26-year-old Tyler Shuffield of Gurdon was

arrested Monday at a motel after an employee recognized him from social media

posts.

Gurdon police say Shuffield took three bank bags of money from a Family Dollar

in the early morning hours of Nov. 28 and left two notes saying armed men forced

him to commit the crime.

Gurdon police Sgt. Toby Garner told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the

letters were discredited within a day or two.

Shuffield faces burglary, theft and other charges and is jailed pending

extradition.

His father, Brian Shuffield, said he’s just happy his son was found and that

he’s innocent until proven guilty.
