Gearl and Randy Adams, both of Mountain Home, appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered not guilty pleas to a number of charges filed against them, including fighting with a Baxter County Deputy Sheriff.

The 31-year-old Gearl Adams, who is in the county jail with bond set at $25,000, was ordered to reappear in court January 12th. The 52-year-old Randy Adams is currently free on $15,000 bond. He was ordered to reappear January 26th.

On December 29th Sergeant Brian Davis with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call at a business along Buzzard Roost Road. When Davis arrived, he made contact with Gearl Adams outside the business.

When Gearl Adams saw Davis he began to walk away, was ordered to stop, but refused to comply. When Davis reached to grab Gearl Adams’ arm to detain him, he began fighting with the law officer.

Davis attempted to deploy his Taser, however one of the probes did not attach rendering the device ineffective. Gearl Adams then attempted to tackle Sergeant Davis. Other deputies arrived on the scene to assist Davis and took Adams into custody. At one point during the altercation, Randy Adams attempted to intervene and assist Gearl Adams in his scuffle with Sergeant Davis.

Sergeant Davis sustained injuries to his forehead, nose and face during the fight, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say Gearl and Randy Adams went to the business to have a phone repaired and the pair became dissatisfied with the speed of the service they were being given and Randy Adams began cursing employees of the business. He allegedly threatened to put the repair technician in the hospital.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, both Gearl and Randy Adams had been drinking and both were allegedly intoxicated. A pistol was located in the driver’s seat of the truck that Gearl and Randy Adams had driven to the business. The recent arrest is the 29th time Gearl Adams has been booked into the county jail on various charges, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
