BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Prosecutors say they won’t seek the death penalty for a Siloam Springs man accused in the Christmas night 2014 murder of his father.
The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that prosecutors made the announcement at a hearing this week for 30-year-old Ted Charles Meehan.
Meehan has pleaded not guilty to a capital murder charge in the death of 55-year-old Tim Meehan Sr., who was found in his bed with a gunshot to his head.
Benton County Sheriff’s Office detectives say Ted Meehan was the only other person at the home when his father was killed.
Ted Meehan is in jail on $500,000 bond. He is due back in court on April 3.
