Mitchell Teconchuk of rural Mountain Home appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a guilty plea to charges related to his unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and attempt to outrun officers during a chase that began in Missouri and ended when the vehicle Teconchuk was driving crashed near the intersection of State Highway 201 North and Baxter County Road 384.
The vehicle pursuit took place December 27th. The Baxter County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Ozark County Sheriff's office in Gainesville that the Missouri authorities were in pursuit of a Red Nissan heading south on State Highway 201. Baxter County Deputies took up the chase. It was reported that the vehicle, being driven at high speeds by Teconchuk, passed other vehicles in no passing zones nearly causing collisions.
In addition to being sentenced to three years probation on charges related to the chase and unauthorized use of a vehicle, the 21-year-old Teconchuck also faced charges of violating the terms and conditions of his probation in a 2014 case in which he was charged with forgery. The state reduced the revocation to contempt of court and he was sentenced to 89 days in the county jail with credit for 17 days already served.
According to a release from the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, it is expected that Teconchuk will be extradited to Missouri to face charges in that state.
