KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Kansas City police say man wounded on New Year’s Eve is now considered a homicide victim.

The victim, 51-year-old Timothy Woods, died from gunshot wounds a few days after he was dropped off on New Year’s at a Kansas City hospital.

The female driver of the car said someone had shot at her car and Woods, who was in the back seat, was wounded.

The driver told police she didn’t know Woods. She said a female friend had called her and asked if she would pick up the woman and Woods.

Moments after Woods got into her car, the woman said she heard five gunshots and Woods said he was hit.

Police say the woman told officers she didn’t see who shot Woods.
