SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) – A Missouri woman has been charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in connection to a fatal crash late last year.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that Greene County prosecutors say Melissa R. Mahan was driving while intoxicated when she struck Leslee Owrey’s vehicle in December. Owrey died from injuries sustained after being ejected from her vehicle.
Mahan allegedly refused to perform sobriety tests or take a breathalyzer test. Investigators say Mahan’s blood test after the accident showed a blood alcohol concentration of .295. The legal limit in Missouri is 0.08.
According to the prosecutor’s bail and bond recommendation, Mahan has two prior municipal convictions for driving while intoxicated.
The prosecution is requesting a $15,000 bond for Mahan.
