DARDANELLE, Ark. (AP) – Authorities have identified the two people who were
killed along with a sheriff’s deputy in rural Arkansas before the suspect was
captured. The state police issued a news release Friday identifying them as 61-year-old
Rita Miller and 17-year-old Ciera Miller.

Authorities have charged 42-year-old James Arthur Bowden with killing them and
Yell County Sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Mainhart.

Mainhart was responding to a call about a disturbance at a house near
Dardanelle, about 65 miles west of Little Rock, when he saw a car linked to that
address and stopped it. He was gunned down early Thursday during the traffic
stop.

The Millers were found dead in the yard of the home. Bowden was arrested
following a standoff with police. His sister, Julie Inmon, told The Associated
Press that her brother told her by phone during the standoff that he had killed
two of his girlfriend’s relatives.
