LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – A federal appeals court has upheld a ruling that
dismissed and decertified a class-action lawsuit against oil giant Exxon Mobil. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the lawsuit was filed by four property
owners in central Arkansas after the Pegasus pipeline ruptured in 2013 and
spilled tens of thousands of gallons of crude oil.

The plaintiffs sought to recover damages resulting from diminished property
values and what they argued was the company’s breach of contract. The suit also
sought to force Exxon Mobil to remove or replace the pipeline.

A federal judge tossed the case in 2015. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
upheld the ruling Thursday.

The plaintiffs’ attorney says they haven’t decided if they’ll appeal.

Exxon Mobil closed the Texas-to-Illinois pipeline after the spill, though a
segment in Texas has reopened.
