Arkansas woman arrested in stabbing death of 38-year-old son

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) – An Arkansas woman has been arrested after police say she
stabbed her 38-year-old son to death.The Conway Police Department says 55-year-old Jessie Mae Johnson was arrested
Saturday morning in the fatal stabbing of Christopher Helms.

Johnson was being held in the Faulkner County Detention Center on a charge of
first-degree murder. It was not immediately clear if Johnson is represented by
an attorney.

Authorities say the stabbing occurred at a residence where witnesses say they
saw Helms curse his mother. Witnesses say they then saw Johnson stab her son
with a kitchen knife.

Police say Johnson was holding her son and she and Helms’ sister were
administering CPR in an attempt to revive him when police arrived at the
residence.

Authorities say Helms later died from his stab wound.
